Mother Nature is clearly a Working Wardrobes fan as she donated a lovely backdrop of blue skies, mild winds, and plenty of sunshine to our inaugural Spring Festival. The community of family and friends old and new – some with fur, others with thrifted clothing that they’d just procured from our Hanger Pop-Up Shop – enjoyed an afternoon dedicated to celebrating life’s simple moments. Standard Poodle Anastasia, the unofficial Working Wardrobes mascot, welcomed the human and canine guests.

Whether playing football on the expansive Newport Civic Center lawn, racing through the inflatable obstacle course, or engaging creativity at the arts and crafts station, kids and their grown-ups had a great time playing together. They also had the opportunity to tap into their inner firefighter aboard a shiny red fire engine handpicked from the OC Fire Authority and CA Firefighters Museum. Such the perfect photo locale! If you were there, did you take advantage of it? When hunger kicked in, attendees enjoyed cheeseburgers, lettuce wraps, veggie burgers, and fries courtesy of our generous food sponsor, The Habit Burger Grill. One lucky raffle winner walked away with a Disney Experience Bundle Basket.

Immense gratitude to the donors and volunteers who helped bring this event to fruition. We also appreciate the community businesses and partners who extended their support. The permeating sense of purpose was palpable and a heartwarming reminder that together we can help create a fresh start by removing barriers to employment.
