From Service to Stability: Roger’s Journey Forward

After separating from the U.S. Air Force, Roger planned to pursue higher education in Mexico. But life had other plans. Unexpected circumstances led him back to the U.S., where he stayed with a friend and focused on regaining his footing.

Determined to rebuild, Roger connected with Working Wardrobes through the Veterans Service Office in Santa Ana. There, he met Khiry Carter, a dedicated team member who arranged a resume coaching session and made sure Roger had access to the resources he needed to move forward.

With support from his resume coach, Roger strengthened his professional profile and soon landed part-time work—a vital first step toward financial and personal stability. But he didn’t stop there.

With continued encouragement from the Working Wardrobes team, Roger enrolled in the Aircraft Maintenance Program at Universal Technical Institute, a leap toward his long-term career goal in aviation.

“As a U.S. Air Force veteran, navigating the transition to civilian life hasn’t always been easy,” Roger shared.

“I especially want to recognize Khiry Carter, who arranged a resume coaching session and made sure I had access to all the necessary resources. Beyond the practical help, Khiry made me feel truly supported. That meant a great deal.”

Roger’s journey is just one example of how personalized support can help veterans take off into new careers—and new beginnings.
