2008 Cinderellas for Life Photo GallerySetting the SceneThe 2008 Cinderellas for Life was a true fairytale! This year 500 low-income teens and foster youth were hosted at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Orange County. The girls were greeted by fun pink floors and decor, beautiful balloon towers by Aah-Inspiring Balloons, and the contributions of many sponsors that helped set the stage for a wonderful day! Special thanks to A&R Wholesale Distributors, Aah-Inspiring Balloons, ABC Ice House, ASR Food Distributors, Boden Food Sales, Cache, Cookie Lee Jewelry, Driftwood Dairy, Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, FedEx, Food Sales West, Garden Grove Unified School District -- Food Services, J. Goodman & Associates, Nordstrom, P&R Paper Supply Company, Pierre Foods, Plan-It Interactive, Starbucks and WOW! Special Events for making this day possible! "Dear Corporations and Community Donors: I can not think of the appropriate words to express all the happiness that I am feeling. Thanks a lot, you made a happy moment in my life." Stephanie P.
The ArrivalThis year, Working Wardrobes served Cinderellas coming from the Garden Grove Unified School District, CASA and Dream Girls. And making sure their day was perfect, more than 350 community and corporate volunteers (some arriving as early as 6am) were on-hand to willingly do whatever needed to be done! Volunteers served as personal shoppers, valet, decor, food service, registration and a myriad of other tasks.
Looking toward their Future! In addition to providing beautiful prom dresses and accessories, the program is also aimed at helping the teens prepare for their future. Jerri Rosen, CEO and Founder of Working Wardrobes kicked off the morning and introduced Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez who gave a very personal and inspiring talk on making right decisions and following your dreams. Each Cinderella also participated in an etiquette workshop led by Josie Martin and a goal-setting exercise! "I just wanted to thank you for volunteering your time. I've been going through some tough times and this event is truly heaven sent... Women like you make me want to succeed in life!" Karla Z.
Prom Dress ShoppingAlways a highlight of the day, each Cinderella got to pick out her fairy tale prom dress. Of course no outfit is complete without the accessories! More than 2,000 dresses and 800 pairs of shoes, jewelry and purses had been donated by the community, ensuring that each Cinderella found her perfect fit! Following are just a few of the pricesses, prom dresses and people that made it happen! "I appreciate all the fabulous dresses, accessories and shoes. It meant so much for me and my family that I received it. I just wanted to thank you with all my heart for helping me and reminding me that I can make my dream happen." Dawn L. "Thank you to all the volunteers -- you worked so hard today, you each deserve your own dresses and suits!" Sophia H.
LunchMore than 800 lunches filled with cookies, fruit, Uncrustables or Lunchables were donated for the Cinderellas and volunteers. We certainly do appreciate the generosity of everyone who made this happen! At the end of the day, each teen left with a wonderful Cache goodie bag filled with makeup, manicure kits and other fun items! "I loved this event! Thanks for the food! The dresses! The pink floors!! Thank you again," Daisy C.
