BEJEWELED TENNIES HELP KICK-START NEW CAREERS
Working Wardrobes holds annual black tie gala to help raise funds for Career Development Center

Fountain Valley, Calif - On Saturday, November 4, 2006, nearly 300 esteemed guests will gather to show off their outrageously decorated tennies while celebrating outstanding success stories from Working Wardrobes' programs. This will take place during Working Wardrobes' annual "Black Tie & Tennies" Gala which will be held at The Island Hotel in Newport Beach.

The "Black Tie & Tennies" Gala will be no ordinary event! The element of combining luxury and comfort is encapsulated in a fun twist on the standard black tie event. In addition to an evening of dining, honoring the 2006 Community and Corporate Partners and one-of-a-kind silent and live auction items, the "tennies" contest is the highlight of the evening. The couple and individual sporting the most outrageous "tennies" are awarded with fabulous prizes.

Irvine Mayor Beth Krom will recognize law firm Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear for the award for Outstanding Corporate Partner and Phoenix House will be honored as Outstanding Community Partner.

This year's gala is presented by Designing Women, a guild supporting Working Wardrobes' mission to help adults in crises get back to work. Designing Women brings together a group dedicated, dynamic volunteers who organize fundraising events and build awareness for the services Working Wardrobes provides for the community. "In less than a year, our Designing Women Guild has recruited a number of talented and dedicated women. We are proud to be hosting the Gala this year and look forward to a most successful event," says Christy Marlin, guild president.

The proceeds from the "Black Tie & Tennies" Gala will help fund Working Wardrobes' Career Development Center which will begin construction in December 2006. The Center will help broaden the services Working Wardrobes currently offers by providing valuable job readiness workshops, career consultations, computer stations for resume development, and a resource library. This addition represents the most significant expansion of service in the organization's 16 year history.
