Oscar-week (Feb 22-25) 2007 provided the backdrop for the kind of opportunity most nonprofits only dream about. mediaplacement and Marie Claire, a magazine which prides itself on being "more than a pretty face," presented the theme of "Get Glitzed. Go Glam. Give Back." during the 2007 Luxury Lounge. Celebrities were invited to indulge in Vavoom salon services and shop their favorite brands in the Marie Claire Fashion Closet, while being encouraged to open their own fashion closets to donate back to Working Wardrobes.

We were truly humbled by some of the new friends we made and their heartfelt donations. Dave Annable of Brothers and Sisters cleaned out his closet...and his sister's! Becki Newton donated the dress she did her Ugly Betty screen test in, hoping it would bring the same confidence to clients that it brought her; while Adriana Barraza, Academy Award-nominated actress for Babel, brought clothes all the way from Miami to donate! Adriana's interpreter, Sharon, brought with her a simple pair of pearl earrings: a gift she received before her first job interview at the age of 16. The earrings have brought her much success and she hopes they will bring the same to a special client of ours.

Many of the items donated will be auctioned during the launch of our eBay store on June 1, 2007! Stay tuned for more details! Other professional clothing items donated by celebrities will be going directly to our clients.

We are reveling in the many new friends and great new connections. But at the end of the day, what we are most excited about is the positive impact this one event will ultimately have in shaping the lives of thousands of men and women seeking to re-enter the workforce.
