This year's event, held November 8 at the Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach, was a tremendous success. Over 200 guests joined us in celebration as we looked back at Working Wardrobes' 18 years as a community leader helping adults in crises re-enter the workforce. Our annual "Black Tie and Tennies" soiree featured all the glitz and glamour of a black tie event, with a distinctive twist: guests arrived sporting their most outrageous pair of tennis shoes. This year's attendees pulled out all the stops to adorn and embellish their tennies - with some fabulous and funky results! The bejeweled tennies carried guests through an unforgettable evening of dinner, dancing and live/silent auctions in a fundraiser benefitting the 4,500 at-risk men and women Working Wardrobes serves each year. This year's program included touching accounts from featured "success stories" and paid tribute to our 2008 honorees - Karen Lawson, Outstanding Community Partner, and FedEx, Outstanding Corporate Partner. We are deeply grateful to the generous sponsors and underwriters who made this extraordinary event possible. Many thanks to Sprint Nextel, our presenting sponsor, and the PIMCO Foundation for helping us benefit thousands of lives through the funds raised at this year's gala. We also wish to recognize our Designing Women's guild, a dynamic group of Working Wardrobes advocates, who planned and carried out a truly remarkable evening. Thank you to all of our donors and auction participants. With 90 percent of all funds raised going directly to support the men and women of our programs, your contributions will enable resilient local men and women to return to the workforce with dignity and self sufficiency! A special thank you to our Black Tie and Tennies 2008 Presenting Sponsor, Sprint! Together, we celebrated 18 years of helping men and women in crises get back to work and recognized the extraordinary people who have lent their time, talents and expertise to our mission. Working Wardrobes and the Desgining Women also recognize the other generous sponsors and underwriters who made this event possible.
It was our privilege to honor:
