Over 60% of the clients served by Working Wardrobes are plus size, yet most of the professional clothing donations we receive aren’t. We want each and every one of the men, women, young adults, and Veterans we serve to feel great on the inside and look great on the outside, so they can nail their job interviews and get back to work! The amazing Ashley Nell Tipton, plus size fashion designer and winner of Project Runway Season 14, has generously lent her support to our campaign. Ashley’s positive mental and physical image serves as inspiration to our clients who are on their own self-improvement journeys, to find their inner confidence and achieve self-sufficiency.
During the month of June 2017, gather together any gently used, good condition plus size work and casual clothes. Get your friends involved too, or ask your place of work to hold a plus size clothing drive.
Drop off your plus size clothing donations at the Working Wardrobes Career Center,
1851 Kettering Street, Irvine, CA 92614 • Mondays – Saturdays, 10:00am – 2:00pm. Or mail your donations to the address listed above.
Thank you so much for supporting Curves Work! Your plus size clothing donations will get our clients back to work.
Ashley Nell Tipton knows how difficult it can be growing up in a world where thin is perceived to be beautiful, and where people are judged based on the way they look outside more than what they offer inside.
That’s why she is lending her generous support to Curves Work, a plus size clothing drive to benefit Working Wardrobes clients – the majority of whom are size 16 and larger yet currently under-served from the smaller size clothing donations we receive each year.
All too familiar with the bullying and the stereotypes that come with being a full figured woman, Ashley used her love of design and fashion as a creative outlet. She channeled the negativity around her into self-love, self-worth, and ultimately, a flourishing career as a plus size fashion designer and advocate of fun, frisky, and fashion forward clothing for full figured women.
Ashley started designing and making clothes with the help of her grandmother who taught her how to sew, and after her grandmother passed away, Ashley paid tribute to the woman who inspired her by auditioning for Project Runway. She turned the fashion world on its head by becoming the first plus size designer to be featured on the show and ultimately winning
Ashley believes that beauty comes from the inside out with a positive self-image, and she breaks all the rules regarding the common misconception that plus size women wear only dark colors. Her designs are bright, bold, and daring, just like her personality!
We’re thrilled that Ashley is the voice of Curves Work and of the plus size men, women, young adults, and Veterans we serve. We want each and every one of our clients to feel great on the inside and to look great on the outside, no matter their size, background, or the challenges they have overcome on their road to meaningful employment and self-sufficiency. Your plus size clothing donations will help get our clients back to work.
Ashley, you prove that curves really do work!
