Success Coaches

Your work as a volunteer Success Coach will be life changing for the clients we serve and heart warming for you! This is an amazing personal and professional opportunity for Human Resource professionals, career coaches and trainers to share their coaching skills with adults in local rehabilitation and domestic abuse programs. Volunteering is a great way to become empowered, build friendships, sharpen your professional skills, network and enhance self-esteem. You can also support our efforts by recruiting your friends, colleagues and business associates to create long lasting memories while serving others!

What does a Volunteer Success Coach do?

Success Coaches work in teams of 2 - 4 to facilitate the seven-week, Working Wardrobes "Career Success" workshop curriculum at an assigned local rehabilitation or domestic abuse program. Ten to twenty job-ready clients participate in each workshop series.

The curriculum addresses the following topics, and more:

  • Provides opportunity for clients to define and appreciate marketable skills
  • Focuses on attainable job goals and helps clients adopt a winning attitude
  • Prepares clients to successfully present themselves to prospective employers
  • Teaches clients how to manage their career so they can move up and earn more

Curriculum, handbook and workshop materials are provided by Working Wardrobes for the Success Coaches and workshop participants.

WheRE AND WHEN does a Volunteer Success Coach meet with participants?

The "Career Success" workshop is presented in five consecutive once-a-week sessions prior to the Day of Self-Esteem event. The sixth and final session is presented the week following the event. (For event dates, click here.)

The sessions are facilitated on-site at the host program. Each session lasts for 1.5 to 2 hours. The sessions are booked around the host progarm schedule in coordination with the availability of the Success Coach team.

HOW DO I BECOME A SUCCESS COACH?

  • All prospective volunteer Success Coaches must first complete the Success Coach application and submit it to Working Wardrobes for review.
  • Applicants will then be invited to visit Working Wardrobes for a Success Coach Orientation with our Manager of Career Development. At this orientation, you will have the opportunity to learn more about our organization and discuss in detail the talents that you bring to the Success Coach program.
  • Two mandatory Success Coach Train-the-Trainer sessions (Part A & B) are provided by Working Wardrobes prior to the beginning of each workshop series.
  • Coaches receive a questionnaire, an assignment to one of the client programs, a curriculum handbook and coaching amterials, and are invited to volunteer and support their clients at the Day of Self-Esteem.
